What distinguishes great leaders from simply good ones? The answer: Emotional Intelligence. Emotional Intelligence is the ability to be aware of our own emotions, to be conscious of the emotions of the people around us, and to manage our emotions effectively in professional and personal relationships, even when those relationships become difficult.
According to research, Emotional Intelligence matters twice as much as technical expertise or IQ. Emotional Intelligence accounts for 67% of the abilities necessary for superior performance. And, Emotional Intelligence is the primary determinant of the quality of our relationships, at work and in our personal lives. The great news is that through focused and disciplined practice, we can improve our Emotional Intelligence.
The Emotional Intelligence and High Performance series is based on Daniel Goleman’s Social and Emotional Intelligence model. At each session, you will get an understanding of the impact of Emotional Intelligence on the workplace. And, you will learn specific techniques to improve your own Emotional Intelligence so that you can achieve peak performance.

What is emotional intelligence and why is it important?
Self Awareness: Learn how to develop self awareness so that you can better understand yourself.
Self management: What is it and why is it important? Learn to manage your impulses and emotions and stay calm and clear headed under stressful situations.
Empathy: What is it and why is it important? Learn techniques on building empathy so that you can better understand another person’s emotions and their point of view.
Relationship management: What is it and why is it important? Learn skills to motivate and inspire others to bring out their best.
What is Mindfulness and why is it important? What does the new science of health and happiness have to do with being mindful? What are some things we can do to become more mindful? How does being mindful improve happiness and success in all parts of our personal and professional lives?
Mindfulness has become a popular term. It is all over the news and media. Both Time and Newsweek magazines recently came out with special editions just on the topic of mindfulness. Wisdom 2.0 is a three day conference in San Francisco with over 3000 in attendance and over 50 speakers on mindfulness and other related topics. Daniel Goleman, researcher and author who coined the term Emotional Intelligence, just published the book "Altered Traits: Science Reveals How Meditation Changes Your Mind, Brain, and Body.” But what exactly does it all mean?
